I am going to Boston Good Friday. I am giving a talk at the AMAA on Saturday. I will be in the Back Bay Hilton Hotel on Sunday. On the Monday (Patriot's Day April 16) I run the 105th Boston marathon in a Calvin singlet.
I just sent a package top Martheen at the Worcester address since I got a letter yesterday telling me about their winding down with Easter.
I have had half a thought about coming up for the May 12 Grand River Bank Run, but I have not yet found reasonable airfares. That will be after my return from Dharamsala India on may 7, and before I travel to Denver (two marathons June 3 Steamboat Springs and June 16 Big horn Ultra) with a short trip to San Antonio to visit Michael and Judy at some time between.
July last two weeks are in Ladakh, and now I am planning a Kamchatka Bighorn Sheep and giant Brown Bear Hunt in Siberia in August.
September I will be going to Boston (Haltsted Society, 12 through 15) and will be coming to Grand Rapids Sept 11‑‑12 just before that. From there I go to Spiti Valley Himachal Sept 14 through Oct 1 from which I go directly to Nepal to a clinic in Lukla and a trek up the Everest Trek Route again to leave from Namche Bazaar to go directly to New Orleans to present a paper at the American College of Surgeons Clinical Congress there on Oct. 10
That begins a season full of Marathons: Hartford Oct 13, Marine Corps 10/28, and Marathon in the Parks 11/18. I put the itineraries of the four Asian trips to the Himalayas in the packet to Martheen, along with the tapes of the last treks.
I have just had the first (and perhaps penultimate) meetings with my thesis committee in three years, and they are asking for yet another revising of the thesis proposal to be due the day before my Dharamsala takeoff and two days after the Boston marathon. They are asking that I create nothing new and original but sit in a library and exhume as much as possible about what has already been written ages ago on the subject of Treating Others. So, I am being required to sit very still and assemble unoriginal thoughts before going anywhere and doing anything!
I am making plans for a return to the Philippines in Mindanao in February 2002, possibly following or preceding a return to Africa into Malawi.
So this should catch you up on where I am and what I will be doing, after your brief question, simply "Where will you be on Easter?"
