AUG-C-2

ALAN MAGEE AND I, KAMCHATKA HUNTING PARTNERS,
ARRANGE TO RENDEZVOUS IN ANCHORAGE,
BEFORE HEADING ON TOWARD SIBERIA FOR THE
KAMCHATKA BIGHORN SNOW SHEEP
AND BIG BROWN BEAR HUNT

August 17, 2001

Dear Alan:

Thanks for your call! I forgot to get your phone number which I had expected from George, and I will give you those numbers for me--besides the one you have at my office. My cell phone is 240/401-0247 and I will attach the other data on addresses and fax for future reference.

I am glad George put us in touch with each other, since I am delighted to look forward to our rendezvous. I can tell already that it should be a good hunt!

I promised you some light reading of the kind that might get you toward ANC sooner, so I will attach a story about my Kazakhstan Hunt last September. You can also see some pictures of the hunts--two rolls of Kazakhstan and a roll from the Brooks Range in the Arctic exactly a year ago today--through a second emailing I will send you shortly.

I might also have a suggesting about the single best sheep taxidermist, in this part of the world at least. His name is Marcus Zimmerman, and I have visited his studio and seen the quality of his work. He did my Dall ram which I had just picked up earlier with George Sevich this spring. Have a look at his web site in www.zimmermanwildlife.com. He may be the right one to do a big Kamchatka BigHorn, and would SURELY be the one if you were interested in a full mount As for a big brown bear, we will see if the fall bear looks like a rug or a smaller footprint from a full mount.

But this is "counting the trophies before the experience of the hunt itself" and I will carry a lot of film and audiotapes to collect as much as I can from the experience.

I have not included any fishing equipment in my pack, on George's advice, since I am a hunter first, and there is almost certainly some gear there. I would also like to see (or get?) a wolf if that is something that happens to us anyway. Are there any other items on your "wish list?"

If you want a better idea of who will be hanging out looking for you at AA 278 baggage claim beyond my meager description, I enclose a couple of photos, or you might check on the "Home Page of a Hunter-Gatherer" at http://home.gwu.edu/~gwg.

I look forward to joining you in ANC and we will get started on a great adventure!

Cheers!

GWG
