Dear Allan:

I have just returned from Denver as you are leaving for Vietnam.  There I presented the case of the young woman with the mid‑facial defect to Dr. Larry Ketch, Chief of Plastic Surgery at the University of Colorado, who not only had some suggestions, but I have talked him into going with us on the next "Mission to Mindanao"!

Furthermore, I have also recruited my medical student advisee, John P. Sutter, who would like to accompany me, and then possibly continue on to a medical mission to Malawi in Southern Africa.

I received a couple of letters from Vivien and Don, who are happily looking forward to our return, and also asking about the follow‑on trek through the mountains and rainforests where the Tboli and Tasaday patients have come from for our last mission, for an assessment of the prevention possibilities for a goiter control program.

I am working around the dates and possibilities for a team and the combined missions to the Tboli area and also Malaybalay or other suggestions you might have.  perhaps we might even take on Mount Apo!

I will be thinking of you in Vietnam, and hope to join you there some day as well.

Cheers!

GWG

Dear Dr. Geelhoed,

Good to hear from you. Tomorrow we are leaving for Vietnam for another
2‑week medical mission. Appreciate your prayers in this regard.
As for Tboli/Malaybalay, we are tentatively setting Feb. 2‑16, 2002 as the
likely dates for next year. Dr. Obregon is planning to lead the MMI team
next year.

As for the Tboli lady with a facial cleft, we are arranging for a team of
palstic surgeons in Cebu City, Central Philippines, to assess her case and
see what they can do.

Appreciate so much your great work and guidance during the Tboli project.
Looking forward to seeing you and working with you again.

Gods bless you much,

Allan
