TO PACK UP FOR OUR SAFARI TO REMOTE LAKE PONGO

Lei was at LEIL = 34* 09.48 N, 077* 35.00 E. Our Thiksay Gompa Clinic is at THIK = 34* 03.04 N, 077* 40.00 E with a distance to LEIL = 9.09 miles at bearing 327*. We leave tomorrow morning to take off on our safari to Lake Pongo, passing the place of our medical camp at Tangtse, to which we will return after seeing the lake and the environs, where we may actually be transported by the Indian Army through the restricted zones. We have each filled out a complete application for the permit for the restricted area with a copy of our passport accompanying the application. We will pack up after the clinic in that clinic, the second of the "blocks" in the district totaling five overseen by Dr. Dava, who is seeking to get us to set up still more remote medical camps in his wide territory along the "Indo-Tibetan Border Patrol (ITBP, as the Army base here in Lei is designated, the deployment area of 70% of the Indian Army, with still daily artillery duals with Pakistan, and surveillance for intrusions from China.)
