SEP-B-3

I AM RIDING THE RAILS TO A SHAKY BEGINNING OF THE LONG
AND NOW SOMEWHAT DELAYED ITINERARY,
BUT, I AM DOING IT!

Sep. 13, 2001

The first steps may be rather shaky, but I am on my way with the rumbling of the wheels beneath the floor!

My Dulles airport ticketed U/A 1:30 departure today from IAD does no good, since Dulles and National remain closed.

I am on Metro Acela Express to Boston, where I will have to await my forwarded medicines and bags when flights resume from DCA to some other city with U/A connections to BOS.

Quite a few folk have advised bagging the whole mission, I have heard from any number of people expecting cruise missiles to be flying my over head since Spiti Valley in Himachal is a few miles from the Taliban's Afghani border.

But I had issued my own bit of defiance (see enclosure) in a very different tenor than rattling sabers---or the Hummers I see with fully automatic weapon-toting combat troops all around me as I struggled from GW to Amtrak down Pennsylvania Avenue.

So, with what hope I may be able to inspire, I am on my way!

Cheers!

GWG

PS
The Harkens' have a cell phone number303/870-3987, and I hope to be rendezvousing with them in Boston while awaitng the medicne packs for India (now in DCA) and while collecting the medicne packs for Nepal (already carried to BOS by Elizabeth Yellen for me to check on the L/H flights to DEL.

I may carry my own cell phone 240/401-0247 until it is checked in the bag that I hope arrives for the Harkens to carry back to Denver according to the original plan.
