Elizabeth and John:

I think we have a golden window!

I had found my Nigerian Journal and the subsequent article I had prepared for the New Physician as my report on my own African foreign fellowship at the same age and stage as you were there‑‑a model with a broad hint on how it can be prepared!  I made copies for you and Elizabeth stopped by and got hers, but neither of youyet have the article I found on Surgical Serivces in Africa___the malawi Model.

BUT, El;izabeth tells me that the best day to get the students together would be Wednesday, and we are not even getting to gether to plan the program until next Wednesday, and looking forward, the only tme we will each be around is April 10 Wednesday NOON.  What do you think?  We will have to put the room reservation in even before we get together to plan it.  I have both the ladakh trips phoot albums completed for your review and use, a full caroousel and completed photo albums on malawi, and all of this can be pulled together to make two presentations in the Power Point after scanning.  Are you ready?

I had sent a note to Poehlmans' hoping they might be available, but probably not on a week day.

I have a few things‑‑although not the good Malawi Map chitenje that Elizabeth has along with her iron!

I wrote to Ravi, since it seems now that the dates I had put togethjer on the basis of a false date for the GWU commencement puts me in tranist out of Nepal until May 20, or otherwise there is no way I could be kept from hooding you, Elizabeth! (see attached, pasted below.)

If you need to get working on this this weekend even before we meet, let me know now‑‑all the stuff is in the office, inclouding the package ready to go to Dr. Mgwira and all others at Embangweni.

Cheers!

Let me check to confirm on three items:

1) Will my bag I left in Simla be waiting for me at Delhi or Chandigarh for passage on to Dharamsala?  I have the sleeping bag and other items in it for the use, especially in the cold climb‑‑such as Nepal‑‑but it might be useful in Dharamsala as well if we are doing something like Mt Triund.

I will be loading it up for the Spiti and Ladakh/Lingshed trips later, and again leaving it for the Simla storage to go up with me in Spiti and especially in Ladakh/Lingshed‑‑and if I arrange it in lei for later‑‑Stok Kangri.

2) Is Sikkim and the other northern province of India off the 2002 schedule?  I will start making commitments for that time frame id Sikkim and the other treks are off, but will hold these times for 2003

3)  Elizabeth Yellen came to my office today;  she has made the special request that I be the one to "Hood" her with her MD at graduation which takes place on May 19, Sunday.  On checking my calendar, I believe I am still returning at that time, or did the times get changed to the May 20?  If it is the Monday May 20, I will have to let her know that I will still be in transit.

I had previously sent you the Dharamsala and Nepal reports for anyone who is going to know what they are getting into.  I will now add, in advance, the reports of Spiti and Ladakh.

I have Carla and Matt doing a Power Point program by scanning my albums on both Spiti Trips, and I have Sonia doing the same on both Ladakh trips, so each should have a Power Point Program on these areas to add to the two I have already sent you.  Further, I am putting together Ladakh reports from both Elizabeth and John Sutter, along with a separate Malawi report for later presentation to their resident mates and other groups, making that set of programs available also.
