AND, NOW THE FULL STORY OF THE
HUNTS OF 2002 CAN BE TOLD!
December 9, 2002
Attached you may find the stories of the deer hunts of 2002 in three
regional hunts. You can be sure that a
series of photos will follow the verbal pictures of these hunts in the three
trips in the venues of MD/ PA/ MD in the last two weeks!
Some day we may look back on this era and recall the year "Two
Aught, Aught Two" when good hunting produced good trophies. The success of these hunts follows many
which were just as good but without the yield--and some day things fall your
way, and others---well, you have also read about those enjoyed every bit as
much by the passionate Hunter/Gatherer!
"Some Days You Have a Good Hunt, and Some Days You Have a Good
Shoot; They Are Not Always the Same Day!"
But these days they were!
The "Executive Summary": I hunted in three venues, and fired several
shots on different days with the .270, three at running deer, and the fourth, a
recent "Shot in the Dark."
The yield from these efforts has been: Four Big Deer in Jim's Custom Meat Cutting, and two Big Heads in
Parker's Taxidermy!
In
Order of their Appearance:
Nov-B-19: MD Opening Day Double
Header
Dec-A-2 PA Opening Day Trophy
Buck on the Run with Craig in Pine Creek Canyon
Dec-A-4: MD return to Somerset
County and "Shot in the Dark" at Bill Webster's farm, with surprise
findings of big bucks nearby.
And, now, I go up to Michigan for a family visit, and possibly a muzzle
loader chaser to these experiences, before packing up for the hog hunts in
Cumberland Island to conclude this "Year on the Hunt."
Enjoy the "Tales of the Hunts" to be followed immediately by
the photo gallery, and then the Hunter/Gatherer's distribution of venison in
freezer wrap--with many more memories to be relived through taxidermy and
fireside illustrated story times!
