Subject:     Greetings to the premier climbing couple of Nepal!

Dear Nimi:

Did you get the package I sent to you following our trek in May?  I had enclosed a number of pictures, and letters to the consulate for both Thaksi and Lakpa.

I also had enclosed money in Nepalese currency for the purchase of Kukris, "Yak, Yak, Yak"Tee‑Shirts for my twin one year old grandsons and a few Nepalese souvenirs that I had not had a chance to pick up on our delayed departure.    Along with these items, I requested the duffel bag you had said you might have, with a bit of Kathmandu embroidery stitched on it to entice the young lady I had suggested might accompany me on my next trek to Nepal!

I had several more trips to the Himalaya following ours, the most exciting of which was the hike through the Zanskar Range to Lingshed.  Did you get the access to those pictures on the Internet I had sent you by email? I trekked every step, but all of my students displaced the packs off the pack horses and rode‑‑especially uphill.  Youth!

Next year's Lukla and Everest Trek is booked for Sep 18‑‑Oct. 6, overlapping with Sikkim, which I will be inaugurating.  Also, I would be interested in varying the itinerary to do an Annapurna trek and a climb.  We have talked about doing Meru Peak, if I were to do yet another Lukla mission.  I had got a letter from Nga, saying things had got a lot tougher in Lukla and Kunde Hospital.

I have never visited the Royal Chitwan either, as a side trip after climbing.  What do you think?

I wanted to know how your return trip in June had been when you were honored in Lakpa's home village of Pangboche?

I enclose by the attachment the rather densely packed series of itineraries for next year, but cannot make all of the trips that are planned‑‑since they would be too much, besides overlapping.  I will also be gong to the South Pacific (Mindanao, Philippines) and Southern Africa (Malawi and Zambia) and to China (NYLF guiding them to the PRC) besides all of the expansion that Ravi has in planning for the next year (see attached.)

Let me know if you have received the package and its many enclosrues.

Thanks!

Oh, NO!!!!

I worried when I had not heard from you after many months since I mailed the big package.  It contains many non-replaceable parts, including a large number of pictures--three rolls, and a number of print-outs from the Everest Trek, as well as the complete story of this adventure--since I know you do not want to receive these large files on the email.  But, more important for the "Nepalese Postal Inspectors" who are no doubt much better off today than they were earlier this year in May when they recieved this gift from heaven, I had cashed $100 US and converted it to Nepalese currency to put in the packet for the order for the Kukris for friends, and the tee-shirts for twin one-year-olds and then put in a text to have embroidered on the duffel bag and sent to the address I had included.

I was suspicioius also since I had sent two official letters, in duplicate, (see attached) for both Lakpa and Thaksi in the envelope, and had never heard from you subsequently.  I mailed these as Air Mail from the US to your office address on the card; it is not an accident if they did not appear.  I have duplicates, perhaps, of the letters, but not of the pictures and currency, of course.  I will try to find the letters and as many of the pieces as I can find, and hope that the package is just "delayed" rather than stolen for its immediate value in cash and disposed of for the more valuable pieces for your sake.

I am sorry that this is the case through your postal "service" but we will try again!

Namaste!
