DEC-A-1
FROM THE DEER HUNTING IN MARYLAND,
TO THE PREPPING FOR LATER DECEMBER TRAVELS,
AND A YEAR-FULL OF ADVENTURES AWAITING SCHEDULING
AFTER THE REPORTING OF THIS YEAR’S EVENTS IN
“THE YEAR OF COMMENCEMENT” NOW BEING MAILED OUT
- DEC-A-1 Index to the December A-series of 2003
- This message begins from a tree: I am typing it in a treestand on Bill Webster’s farm, after my first glimpse at pre-dawn of a magnificent ten-point buck, but the only action since then has been by cell phone in the treestand!
- Return to DC and GW and Derwood, each in an early winter full speed ahead schedule of activities and year-end rush for completion of various projects—my year-end review letter-03 among them!
- Good news of a missing publisher who has reawakened after three years without response: “Surgery and Healing in the Developing World” will be published this Spring of 2004.
- Synthesizing Cumberland Island plans with the holiday travels and Derwood walk-through.
- Progress, at a price, as the Derwood drive, woods, windows and “change orders” are issued and paid for and the siding goes up and wiring goes in.
- Score! Twice over! The year-end letter-03 is in the mail, and the first of winter’s storms snows in Montgomery County; but I escape to the Eastern Shore to make the final deer hunt in Maryland, and secure an eight-point buck in the butcher shop and taxidermy, returning to snowed-in Derwood.
- I carried the picture of Drew’s eight-point buck with me on the hunt in MD to compare notes with him on deer in MI; his has a wider spread!
- I meet the management of D G Liu and walk through the snowbound property as the insulation is in and the plumbing begun, while the appraisal and mortgage loan flounders for lack of “finishing;” I pack up and leave for ALB to drive down in a rental car to Pittsfield and the Berkshire Medical Center.
