I would be delighted!

What a pleasure to be "coming home!"

I must confess I have been absent during most of the "homecomings" for most of the institutions from which I have graduated, but the Brigham may be one of the most formative influences in my life, and the life long friends and colleagues that have molded me make me identify with this institution with near reverence- - a feeling often evoked by brick and mortar edifices but seldom deserved.  I had recalled this general principle when Joe Murray had written me a note last year advising allegiance to people over property, and he may be one of the reasons I have such warm recollections of my time there.

I do know, however, of a number of old acquaintances and new friends that enliven the brick and steel along Francis Street that would make a pleasure to re- visit.

I have just returned last night from Malawi in southern Africa where I had worked for a period in the remote parts of a destitute population in the fascinating surgical problems I attempt to address with the means at hand- - which are principally the resourcefulness of the people who have to carry this burden.  It is for the reason of my absence that I have not responded to you sooner, not due to any reluctance on my part to agree to your suggestion!

Pick a few dates that work for you, and I would be delighted to work out whatever date and time can be accommodated.

Thank you for your invitation!

GWG

Dr. Geelhoed, Would you consider giving a Grand Rounds at Brigham and Women's

this coming academic year?  We do this on Wed am.  Thanks, Stan Ashley
