Our opening day in Jimani near the Haitian border in
the mountains of the western Dominican Republic:
our tour of the General Melenciano “hollow” Hospital and the devastated areas of
the washout of the May 5 flood victims at Jimani.
-
The second day of our operations in Jimani,
Dominican Republic with Batey
Relief Alliance: our work in the hospital and in a re-settlement reconstruction
for Dominican victims of flood disasters.
-
A full day of two clinic sessions at the hospital in Jimani,
for an improvement in the process and one major explosion from a source who is
not getting adequate respect and attention.
-
Another day and another joiner for the Haitian
Creole-speakers, Dr. Serge Geffraud, as we set up for a half day clinic in the
hospital in Jimani, then a half day in clinic under a tree, then a walk to and
through the border with Haiti.
-
Our “off day” Saturday, begins with a return to refugee
camp # 2, to see the last of our 750 patients in the DR side of our mission’s
first week, then a scramble with an abrupt change in plans to leave immediately
for the “long way ‘round” to cross the DR/Haitian border near Beladere.
- Our departure from the Dominican Republic by a long ride along the barren mountain ridge of the Haiti border, to arrive after dark at Hotel Teo in Elias Pina, our last Dominican
port of departure.
