06-FEB-B-1
BEGUN IN AN EAST COAST BLIZZARD, A VISIT
TO
IOWA FOR SOME
LONG
RANGE
PLANNING AND “IRISH RUN”
- FEB-B-1 Index to
Feb-B-series
- Departing DC area in the East Coast’s “Blizzard of ‘06”
I leave for DesMoines and Indianola on a trip planned before an abrupt
opportunity to consider a new initiative for
Virginia’s future.
- Re-entry from Iowa and bumping into past-due schedules of incomplete
erasures which were past due at 9:00 AM on the Ides of February, as I was in
the air; refused permission to take
written Comps and re-scheduling all else, an appeal is made to the Graduate
School Dean and I am back on plan, with a pressurized make-up and work-forward
schedule for the next two weeks.
- Events of the weekend near Derwood, as the snow melts
and the papers are coaxed out of the hat in trying to catch up and ahead of
schedules shrinking in front of me.
- The arrangements being made for me to visit Mayange, a “MVP”—Millennium
Village Project—with a videography crew from
Kigali.
- My final pre-trip letter to the
Rwanda
team as we prepare for the
Mindanao show and
tell, the pre-trip packing party, and arrival of tickets and MAP packs.
- The roster at the time of the
final MAP pack order in
Rwanda
preparation.
- The final letter to the Rwanda Team regarding details of the Mindanao
Mission Report 2/27, the Packing Party Prep on 3/1 and takeoff on ¾ for the
Rwanda
mission.
- Plans to integrate the
Alberta
duck/goose hunt with the
Colorado
elk hunt in October.
- The announcement of the Mindanao Mission Program led by the students and
me on Monday February 27 noon in Ross 117 at which time the
Rwanda
team will also assemble in
preparation for the departure of next week’s mission.
- An incredulous coincidence in an April 8 date
with both the ELDP and the MDDF, a
suspicious pile of downfallen branches in my yard, a suggestion for active
leadership role in SCI-CC, a scramble to re-do papers and processes for
assignments, comps, proposals and thesis.
- Planning the transition from Pre-Candidacy to the point of “Comps” to
the Candidacy and Proposal Stage with my advisor and Thesis Committee Chair,
Prof. Michael Marquardt.
- Further plans on getting current and ahead in
ELDP assignments and for the thesis plan.
- How much effort does it take to try to futilely change a light
bulb? A Derwood Disaster as I attempt tp
get ELDP plans on course.
- The invitation to speak at the student
conference that precedes the MMHOF event in
Toledo directly on return from
Rwanda
.
- The “
Mission
to Mindanao Presentation”, the
Rwanda
Mission
Packing Party, the invitation to the Post-Comps May
party, and the final prep for “Into Africa”
