NUMBER ONE GRANDSON AND NUMBER ONE FOR GRANDFATHER

I don't know; why do you think I particularly like this picture? Is it because of the Steamboat Marathon T-shirt from the race I had just run the month before this picture? Or is it because of the 101st Boston Marathon jacket from my run three months before? Or, is it because this was the first photo taken of us upon my arrival in Gainesville for my first view of--what's that you say?--There is someone else in this picture?

This was our first meeting, and Andrew William treated it formally enough. He did not urp on me as his father used to do incessantly; he waited until my second visit for that when we were much better acquainted. I had sent down a couple of the kinds of new birth presents that one might expect, such as from Boston at the marathon I got the original "Make Way for Ducklings" (Get it?) I had also sent him a New York City Marathon bib. But, what is this ? you say. Yes, a camouflage toddler bowhunting outfit. After all, now that my first generation of progeny are all busier than I am, it is time to get the next generation ready for the wilderness outings I had so much enjoyed with the first!
