THE FORWARDING OF ALL MY MEDICAL CREDENTIALING
TO BE QUALIFIED TO WORK IN ETHIOPIA!

Dr. Kelemu Desta
P O Box200
Wolaitta Soddo Hospital
Wolaitta Soddo, Ethiopia
Dear Dr. Desta:

I am forwarding to you through the advice of Dr. Harold Adolph a few of the documents and papers he had asked me to se that you got in the event that we may be able to work out the proposed period of volunteer service in Ethiopia I have tried to arrange with my senior medical students at George Washington university on elective assignments.

It is a bit complex, since I will be gone in other mission fields just before the proposed trip.  I will be in Mindanao Philippines on a surgical mission (again) for the first two weeks of February, and then propose to circle around the southern hemisphere coming up from South Africa to Malawi, where  a friend,  Dr. George Poehlman, has asked me to give a hand in some of his ongoing medical mission activities there.  If it is possible, I will try to arrange a forward journey through Ethiopia to make a period of time available in Ethiopia, where at least one of the medical students, Elizabeth Yellen, will be spending an extended period of time.  All of this must fit before a March 10 commitment I have to go to Cuba.

As a veteran of many of these missions, I know that even extensive planning does not rule out the unforeseen, and would like to keep those adaptations to the unexpected minimal in respect to the travel which we are trying to plan out now.

I will attach itineraries and brief CV's that Dr. Adolph had suggested as well as sending by air mail the current licenses and credentials requested.  Much more complete information about me including the complete CV, bibliography, credentials and other experience indicators may be found immediately on the Home Page web site http://home.gwu.edu/~gwg

Thank you for your patience.

Dear Glenn:

Your messages came through my wife's computer which missed the attachments

and schedule.

The list of requirements for surgeons working in Ethiopia as copied from

their manual is:

  1. Curriculum Vitae and 2 passport size photographs.
  2. Duly legalized photocopy of all professional documents. If they are not in English they should be properly translated, signed and sealed by a notary public or legal translator.
  3. Current license from country of origin.
  4. A letter of testimonial of ethics and character and length of experience with official appointment held (It should not be more than 6 months old.)
  5. Health certificate (It should not be more than 3 months old).

You could DHL this to Dr. Kelemu Desta, PO box 200, Wolaitta Soddo Hospital,

Wolaitta Soddo, Ethiopia.  I can't imagine that this would fit in a 70 pound

shipping container. His E-mail address is kmesdj.ccmf@telecom.net.et He could

prepare for the two medical students that would accompany you. I will speak

on your behalf 4 plus.

At this time we do not expect to be in Ethiopia in March.

Trust that you have a great trip through the Philippines, Malawi, and

Ethiopia.

Your friend,

Harold
