Thanks for your wonderful note!

As long as you (whatever repairs may have been necessary for your car!) did not have to spend the overnight in the iron lung, it is a good experience for historic reference only!

I will forward this to see what I can hear from the pediatric group within correspondence range, but I have heard nothing at all from the peds residents since their return after all the efforts to get them a quality experience in Ekwandeni.

We are setting up a "show and tell" presentation for September when the students return to be headed up by Kevin and Amy, with many others who will participate and quite a number of "wannabes" who are eager to join.

I am sending you a summary of my recent experinces in Haiti.

I have good pictures of you and your parents and sister and her husband from the graduation reception and have distributed the other photos to your other preceptor in family medicine.

Say hello to Rusty from me, and be sure to keep me informed on your activities!  I leave soon for the three- part treks in India- - including the one on which you got your start as the opening salvo in Ladakh!

Dr. Geelhoed,

Good to hear from you and from and Dumasani.  I

suggest Dumasani get in contact with the peds

residents from Children's.  I will try to get their

contact info, if you still have it, maybe we could

facilitate communication with them.  Its a GWU and now

a Howard Univ residency.  Both institutions may be

open to a foreign grad, particularly one that has

already trained their residents!

I have arrived in San Diego after a cross country trip

that served up its own unique adventures.  I now have

friends in Crosswoods, TN and in Deming, NM, both

places where my car broke down.  You would have

reallyliked the Deming museum.  They had two iron

lungs - adult and pediatric.

Dr. Geelhoed, thank you very much for all you have

done for me over the last four years.  It was an honor

and important for me to have you as my hooder, and it

really capped off correctly my medical school

experience.  I chose to go to GWU on the hunch that it

would provide more international options, and thanks

to you, that promise was fulfilled.  I appreciate your

enthusiasm and example for providing care for those

who most need it, and hope that I can imitate your

dedication and the things you have accomplished.

Thanks.
