Your Dad
OK--I have plugged it in for April 3 at
the time and place designated for the depo.
I had re-arranged the flights in to Columbus for
the schedule to accommodate the switch from testimony Friday to earlier on
Wednesday (attached below.)
GWG
I had spent a couple of hours in the Delta
ticket office after trying to book the ticket on line and the machine failed to
do so even though the flights and seats were open--the way I had tried to do it
is to package the flights into at least one Saturday overnight with another
destination to bring down the astronomic airfare for back and forth simple one
day excursions, and booking a month in advance.
So, I had a package for $882 but with my arrival
on the 17th for testimony on Friday the 18th.
I have just gone back to the Delta downtown
office and paid $100 for the change fee, and they have moved the flights to
arrival on the 15th for testimony on the 16th. I am now booked for
Tues. 4/15 11:40AM GNV--ATL 12:50PM Delta 4667
Tues. 4/15 2:10PM ATL--CMH 3:38PM
Delta 1108
Departing:
Wed. 4/16 4:20PM CMH--LGA 5:55PM
Delta 5164
The new fare, dropping out the front side of one
ticket and the back side of another is $1174 with the $100 change fee
additional.
I hope this one works, since it would be another
change again, with these now ticketed and pre-paid flights to make a different
reservation.
I look forward to seeing you here when the
details can be worked out for the depo.
Cheers!
GWG

LONG ISLAND JEWISH HOSPITAL, NY
We
are coming up to a month before the Grand Rounds in April when I will be
visiting. I had a number of obligations
during that week, and tried to string a series of flights together to reduce
the total airfare by advance purchase and an over Saturday night stay. I have booked the following arrangements,
not knowing when I might be needed precisely, so I allowed extra time before
and after the Grand Rounds, by arriving the night before and leaving the day
after as follows:
Wed.
4/16 Delta 5164 arriving LGA 5:55 PM
Fri.
4/18 Delta 1836 departing LGA 2:35 PM
I
have ticketed these arrangements to lock in the reservations; let me know if
these arrangements work out for you.
I had
previously sent some information by mail that is typically needed for an
accredited Grand Rounds CME requirements, and will forward some of these by
attachment if they are not already in the file.
Thanks
again for your invitation!
GWG
Yes, thanks, Rosanne!
I am glad to get the arrangements secured since
in this era of uncertainty, whether airlines, bankrupt or otherwise, will be
flying is unknown, but at least I have committed to them, if they are still
working!
Please reserve whatever is closest and most
convenient for you, and let me know whenever it is convenient!
Thanks again!

Dr. Geelhoed
Grand
Rounds is scheduled for April 17 so those flights will be okay. Let me
know if you need hotel reservations.
Thanks

BOSTON, MA FOR THE 107TH MARATHON
Wonderful!
We
will try to rendezvous!
Your
rigid training schedule is ahead of mine--since I am unsure I can go ten miles
right now, but will have to find out if I can make it 26.2 in five days from
now. I did not tell you the
"chaser" to the CBTM--but the next week, I am heading out on a long
run---the "Bull Run Run"---a Fifty Miler! (see attached Mar-A-13)
I
crawl onto an aircraft the following day to start the trip (Mar-A-12) that has
me winding up in Boston at the Back Bay Hilton with you--with stops in
Gainesville Florida to give their Global Health Day keynote, then on to Ohio,
returning to Grand Rounds at Long Island Jewish Hospital for pediatric surgery
and then to Boston for the rendezvous with you ---and, oh, yes, the 107th
Boston.
I
then return to Derwood, where Virginia will be flying in, to go to an
"orientation" meeting
(quite
literally) for my leading a group of medical students to China, and that same
evening, taking off with Virginia from Dulles with all the boxes of medicines
and surgical equipment to work in Malawi.
Right
after returning from Malawi, the sequence of four Himalayan missions begins,
with Virginia and her sister joining in on the one that is the high and
rigorous Trek through Zanskar and the Kashmir--the middle mission between
Ladakh and Sikkim which I will also lead this year.
So,
your visit is perfectly timed as the last lucid moment I may have before the
long hauls on foot and airborne!
Relay
my best to Imme and Freeman!
I
look forward to joining with you under blossoming cherries!

Dear
Glen:
Cindy and I are looking forward to coming
to Washington for the Cherry Blossom Race. We are coming with Freeman, Imme and
two other people and have made reservations to stay in a B & B on Cathedral
Avenue. Freeman has a meeting at the National Cathedral so this will make it
convenient for him. Plans are fairly well set for Friday and Saturday but I was
wondering if you could join us for Sunday Brunch at Kramers Book Store after
the race. Would be great to see you and meet your friend. This would give us a
good chance to catch up on things. The two other people joining us our Mary
Weeden who moved from our area to the horse country in Virginia and has a
grandson that my grandson, Matthew, has enjoyed. The other person is Susie
Wilson, who is in her 70's and still works very hard at Rutgers and is involved
in sexuality, especially in teenagers. We are all staying at the Kalorama Guest
House.
Your training schedule has not changed.
Good luck in your marathon. I am on a much more rigid schedule and hope to do
my 20 mile run next Sunday. So far so good.
We will see you at the race and can decide
final plans then. Good luck, Charlie
