Subject: April and May
Looking at the running program as of Friday 21 March, here is where
I am.
Goal: For 2003 Qualify and compete and medal for our USA team in
the World Games in Quebec City, Canada this August
for 2004 Qualify, compete and medal for our USA team at the Athens
Paralympics in september 2004.
Where I am:
1. Wednesday night Interval workouts with MCRRC are going very well. Paz,
and Linda have been a big help on this. Others also helping are Art
Driscoll, John Weiss, Dennis McDonald, Vasily. Continue and move up to Mont
Rockville in April.
Action for me: Ask Art Driscoll if I can ride home with him after the
workouts, and find out exactly when we are transitioning sites.
2. Workouts with Coach Chris Parker over at PG Sports and Learning Complex.
Despite an Open invitation from Chris and cooperation from Daniel Will I
have struggled to get a consistent regimen established. To date, only 2
actual workouts have occured, both helpful drills and hill work on another
day. My ultimate goal is the Track Speed interval Work.
Actions for me: a. Contact Metro Access about the very unreliable
PG afternoon trip from the WNY.
b. Talk with Dameon Johnson about his thoughts on near term future workouts
with Chris. c. Ask Chris about his plans for future workouts and
Strategize with him on a workout for me.
3. Work with Coach Larry Colbert over at Eleanor RooseveltHS. Workouts
will be in Greenbelt weekdays from 1630‑1830.
Actions for me: a. Call Larry Colbert and determine what day to start
coming over.
b. Metro Access PG call will be helpful.
4. Strategize with Steve Nearman and ask him for optimum training workouts
for the next 2 weeks to 2 months. Consider any other options to GU,
Episcopal or Steve.
5. Review with Brian Hilburn a modified work schedule including /revised
times and leave for the next 2 months.
6. Look at local training in Bethesda at Walter Johnson HS with Art
Driscoll, Dan Murphy and other speedy local runners.
7. Review workouts with Rick Sakshaug to carve out the most beneficial
training for me including weights, treadmill and outdoor running.
8. Sit down with Betty and strategize on how best to support each other's
joint plans for the house and personal goals.
9. Tailor Glenn's workouts to either Fartlek or Long even distance runs
.
10. Whhenever I may want to get discouraged, fatigued, stressed or
frustrated simply remind myself of the following: Never, Never, Never
Quit!!!
