Dear Keith:

OK!  Despite rainstorms and glitches on "adequate insurance to protect the lender" (the coverage was quadrupled to make the value of the renovation equal to the policy) and the satisfaction that the "trust" was no barrier, and then the title insurance etc‑‑despite all that, we got the loan closed and settled.  Between now and Friday you should get to your attention and made out to my LM Premier Account Number a wire transfer for $295,407.70 directly into my account.  (I do not want to see a check lying in the mail for three weeks in my absence, when they had just charged me $458.30 for the interest at 5.50% between now and April 1 for the ten days charge!)

I will call before Friday to see if it has arrived.  The charges against my account by automated withdrawal are then 360 drafts over the next thirty years for about $1,700 beginning with the first draft due May 1, 2004

Between now and then, I should return and will have a chance to talk with you, possibly on the 13th of April?

There are a swarm of people covering the house today with final painting, cabinetry, installation of appliances in new "now oversized" cabinets in the kitchen, and ADT security service wiring.  I have just postponed the delivery of all the customized new furniture due for delivery on Thursday until after the cleaning crew arrives to get rid of all the construction dust on Friday, then the "window treatments" curtains, Roman Shades and wall paper go up on the 22nd with the major delivery of the "white glove" furniture placement comes in on the 23rd.

On the outside, new gutter guards are being installed, the house will be stripped of the ivy vines and power washed for all the brick, the chimney will be flashed and new caps put on it, and all the upstairs will be carpeted after the master bedroom and walk in closet are first finished then used as the store room to stack the stuff to be moved over from the two storage bedrooms so that they can be painted and carpeted‑‑all this in my absence.

I postponed the "completion" of the basement, since it cannot be done without some place to move the stuff as they would have to work on it, and I am waiting for that to happen when the summer is here, and I can sort it out and use the dumpster to dispose of half of it.  This will take place exactly a year to the July that I had first spent weeks boxing and storing stuff, a good deal of it now to be trashed.

I return on the late 10th of April, the remaining heads in two of the three taxidermy shops arrive on the 11th, and all the trophies are moved to the game room on the 12th.  I have several local presentations to make here in DC that short week, and leave on the 15th (tax day, no longer a deadline, since thanks to Bill Morgan, my MD and IRS returns were filed last week)  I then depart for two weeks on the Amazon River from Iquitos Peru to Belem Brazil April 15 to May 2

So, it looks like the finishing touches are going in just, as expected, a bit behind schedule and over budget, but it is looking like it will be done before the conclusion of a year in process!

Glenn ‑ business!! I heard from Wendy Steinberg who wanted a copy of your

revocable living trust.  I had only a Certificate of Trust summarizing the

terms of the trust and notarized 8‑07‑98 and sent from the Downs office.

Since the trust is revocable and you are your own trustee this should be

sufficient. But you are dealing with a bureaucracy which doesn't take time

to think. If the form I sent is not satisfactory then they can ask Downs for

a copy and they now have his address and phone number or you may find that

it is easier to take title in your individual name and transfer later.

Since you will have the same tax ID (your social security number) there

should be a small or no cost to go to the revocable trust at a later date to

get this deal done.

Hopefully they will accept for the REVOCABLE Trust the Certificate of trust

I faxed.  If not Downs can fax and they can read in time to go to

settlement. Last choice is your individual name and change to trust later.

Good luck and know they aren't picking on you, they all end up asking for

more stuff they forgot two days before closing and when you are leaving town

‑ just business as usual.  GOOD LUCK ‑ Keith
