Out of pocket, or through you if you are making the arrangements.

I already have a half dozen medical students. two general helpers and two professional photographers interested in accompanying me along with two nurses. (Steve Katz you know well can work his photographic magic for PFP on this one as well--I am also hosting a visit from him in Mindanoa in January!)

Yes, I would welcome other participants and have been quite used to a mixed-team of members, now to include several of the "veterans" who have participated with me in prior missions.

Cheers!

Hi again Dr. Geelhoed,

Couple of questions:

1. How do you fund your missions (flight, hotel, meals, etc.)?  When you

order the medical travel packs how do you pay for them?

2. Have you identified your team members for the mission to Rwanda? Or are

you going on your own?  Do you  want/mind if other volunteers to go with

you?

Thanks again.  Susan

Dr. Geelhoed,

Attached please find a Travel Pack order form and we post the current

Travel Pack offer on our website at www.map.org

We pack a new Travel Pack offer about every two or three weeks.

I've attached the current offer for you to look at #226

Should you decide to do a custom order you will need to request the

custom list at least five or six weeks in advance of your departure to

place your order. The Custom Order is a separate program from Travel

Packs and requires

longer processing time.

Dear Ruth:

I am planning among my forthcoming missions for the coming year a new

site which I will be developing in Kigali and Gisenyi, Rwanda.  I will

be holding general clinics in these two sites and will be referring

forward to a hospital those I will subsequently operate on.  For that

purpose I would like to submit an early request for the MAP packs you

have so ably assembled for me in the many missions around the world and

put to such good use.

Thanks for your help in assembling these MAP packs for which I will

submit an application.

Dear Dr. Geelhoed,

Thank you so much for your  time on Tuesday and your interest in a

medical mission to Rwanda in March. You  well know how much this will

mean to the people of Rwanda.

The pediatrician from the United Christian Parish (UCP) who is

interested in traveling in March is Dr. Kathleen Kelley. Her  email

address is katkell400@aol.com.

I have many questions about a joint GWUMC and UCP mission trip, most of

which are practical. These include:

*        How do you envision the UCP group (probably 3-4) working with

your group? My sense, from Tuesday's conversation, is that we would work

in the same area but do different things, except for Dr. Kelley.

However, I know that our group is willing to work with you in any manner

which would facilitate your mission.

*        What dates do you have in mind? According to the web-site for

the GWU School of Medicine and Health Sciences, Spring Break is

scheduled for March 13-17. Would we travel around those dates and for

how long?

*        We need to have the dates as quickly as possible in order to

obtain advantageous airfare.

*        We will be traveling under the umbrella of the United Methodists

Volunteers in Mission (UMVIM) which gives us insurance and access to

their travel service for tickets. I am willilng to include yur students

as part of our group for tickets and insurance.

*        In planning for the June of 2006  trip Fellowship Travel quoted

airfare of $1500.00 (including taxes). I will be getting our tickets

through them. Fellowship travel requires a contract with a $100.00 per

ticket deposit about a week after agreeing to the dates and price. For

June of 2006 we were flying United and Kenya airlines

(Dulles/London/Nairobi/Kigali). Our group has also flown Ethiopian

Airlines through South Africa and Jupa flew Ethiopian

Airlines(Dulles/Rome/ Addis Ababa/Kigali.

Please let me know how you envision this joint venture and how you want

us to handle the tickets. Pastor Jupa will make hotel reservations in

Rwanda. Both  hotels are owned by Rwandans and are very pleasant with

private rooms and baths and excellent food.

Thank you again, Susan Fellows (Team Leader, Rwanda Team, UCP).

this is all exciting! I may have a difficult time staying through the 24th. Is

there any way to leave early?

Hi Dr Geelhoed,

Attached is a first draft of a mission proposal for the March mission to

Rwanda.  Please review it and then extrapolate where you can (especially on

the mission objectives) and fill in where it's needed (e.g., names,

contacts).  Thanks.  Susan
